You Weren’t Always a Mom

You Weren’t Always a Mom

Being a Mom is the most frustrating and rewarding job on the planet. I mean, you are literally given the responsibility of not only creating a human but molding that person into a decent contributing human to society. That alone is a terrifying notion! I am here to remind you of YOU. Did you know you were NOT always a Mom? Well this article is here to remind you of the Queen you are. Adjust your crown and read along for some encouragement.

I bet you forgot about the ambitions, drive and hopes you had for yourself, huh? Once the thought of your precious offspring took over your entire mind, you’ve been stuck in a haze. A foggy dance routine of breastfeeding/formula making, spit up, wiping and more poop than anyone deserves. It is EXHAUSTING. Sleep schedules are destroyed and it seems that Mom’s always get put on the back burner. I am here to tell you to RECLAIM your time. You deserve the notion to be human again….to be more than just a Mother.

“To simply put: Be YOU”

Quit feeling guilty about taking time away from your kids. After 9 months of creating them, you deserve a little alone time! Trust me, I know its easier said than done but you have the right to go get your nails done. Book that Zumba class and shake your cares away. Hand the baby off to the husband and just take a walk to be with nature and your thoughts. The entire experience from birth is overwhelming. Your body becomes an incubator and you lose a few brain cells in the process of it all, but I am here to assure you that the path can be found again.

From personal experience, it took me until after my daughter was born to realize how lost I truly was. I was caught in a whirlwind of diapers, wipes, & spit up that turned me into such a miserable person. I knew it was time for a big change…..a reversal potion was needed to find the Charmae I didn’t recognize anymore. I sat myself down and began giving myself positive affirmations everyday with a marker on the mirror or a post it note in random places. I lost faith in myself and in an effort to restore it I became my biggest cheerleader! It helped immensely, and if you apply the same logic you will find the true you rise back to the surface.

I cannot promise the sleepless nights will ease quickly or that raising kids isn’t full of difficult hurdles. I can promise that the minute you begin to recall the former you, that is a step in the right direction. Start small and go for coffee by yourself or with a friend. You will be ready to graduate to girls night out sooner than you think!

Yes! Every mom should read this! You are not just a mom, you are so many amazing things. I try to tell that to my friends and they look at me as I am crazy. The most important person to me is me. Because if I am not fine and good, my kids will also not be. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I crave some alone time, but then feel immediately guilty as soon as I get it. It’s a hard balance. When do I get to stop sharing everything, my body, my food, my spot in bed? I know I will miss it when it is gone though.

It is sooo hard Mama but take the time to reclaim yourself. Even if it is just a 5 minute walk alone…..DO IT. You will be a much better person!!!

A lot of moms often forget about this and it’s sad. I love how encouraging your post is and how it’ll make a mom wanna get up and drop the kids off at day care lol. Hmm I wish there was a daycare for husbands too lol. But so many great tips thanks for this blog mama ?
