In Daly City at the Doelger Senior Center is a hidden gem that is not only cheap but a blessing on days that are too hot or gloomy to be outside with the little ones (like EVERYDAY DURING BAY AREA SUMMER??. Is that rain?? Ohhh JUST SUPER HEAVY FOG YOU SAY?? UGH…ok rant over).
The Open Tot Gym is geared towards children five years old and younger. Infants and toddlers under 12 months of age are not charged and may attend with paying sibling. You heard right….young babes can tote free with the older toddler. WINNNING!
It is located at the Westlake Community Center, 145 Lake Merced Boulevard and the schedule below is subject to change. I suggest calling ahead to make sure they are open as they put on many events that use this same gym space!
- Mondays, 11:30am – 2:30pm
- Wednesdays, 10:00am – 2:00pm
- Fridays, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Now down to the nitty gritty. How cheap is it you ask? $4.50 for Daly City residents and $5.75 for non residents. SAY WHAT??? Praise ??Da??Lawd.
Children are free to do as they please with classic Little Tyke toy cars, huge building blocks, a bounce house, hula hoops, slides, a little buggy coaster and so much more! If you go anywhere else such as Hop and Play or Diddalidoo, you spend twice as much for the same effect we are ALL striving to acheive….NAP TIME! Which leads to wine time….thats another post for another day tho!
Overall, my favorite aspect is that it is in a closed gym where I can rest on a bench while my toddler goes wild. I call that a Momma win in my book. Hope you enjoy your time and maybe I will see you there! Thanks as always for reading!
